Earlier this year, one of our customers reported damp and mould in their home.

What we did

We arranged for one of our HHSRS Surveyors to carry out a full inspection of the customer’s home to understand the issue and cause.

The surveyor found high volumes of moisture on their meter readings which confirmed damp issues affecting several rooms in the home.

Given our concerns about the extent of the issue, we arranged temporary accommodation for the customer while we carried out the improvements.

Working with our in-house contractors, Arthington Property Services (APS), and external contractors, Timberwise, we:

  • Resolved the rising damp – Timberwise-specified treatments were carried out throughout the ground floor.
  • Repaired the ceiling – we installed new insulated plasterboard. We also fully re-plastered the upstairs ceilings where mould had appeared and re-plastered and decorated throughout the home.
  • Upgraded the kitchen and bathroom – the customer chose their preferred finishes and flooring for their newly fitted kitchen and bathroom
  • Completed targeted work outside the home to stop moisture getting in.
Newly plastered walls

We completed all work on time and to a high standard, fully resolving the rising damp and mould issues and preventing it happening again.

The customer shared their satisfaction and praise with the work done by the team:

“From first reporting the damp and mould issues with our property, when Paul from APS came out to complete the scope of works, he has gone above and beyond to ensure everything was completed to a high standard. Communication throughout the process was excellent, and the quality of finish is fantastic. We can’t thank Paul and his team enough for the fantastic work they’ve carried out.”

How you can prevent damp and mould

Not all homes need this level of work. In most cases, damp and mould can be tackled quickly with minor repairs or changes to how moisture is managed in the home.
