The website supported people in finding a home swap / mutual exchange.
As well as providing homes directly for individuals and families across Kirklees, Leeds, North Yorkshire and Wakefield, we also provide accommodation to local partners who offer specialist support.
In our agency managed homes we act as the landlord and the partner agency supports the individual or family living in that home. In this type of arrangement our partner agencies are called managing agents.
Our managing agents provide a breadth of support for a range of people including those facing: homelessness, addiction, domestic abuse and/or mental health issues. They also support care leavers, people on their recovery journey, people with learning disabilities, younger people, and people living in residential care.
Due to the nature of their work, we can’t refer you to our managing agents, you would need to approach them directly or be referred by Housing Options or another health / social care team.

Looking for support?
If you’re looking for support with somewhere to stay, you need to contact your local housing options service:
- Contact Kirklees Housing Solutions on 01484 221350.
- Ask for an assessment for supported accommodation because of your support needs.
- You’ll need to explain:
- Your health/addiction/support needs.
- Whether you’re homeless or at risk of homelessness.
- Why you can’t manage safely in ordinary accommodation.
- Whether you need on-site or regular support.
- You’ll need to provide evidence of your housing situation, care needs and any relevant professional reports.
- One route to supported accommodation is to request a referral to the particular agency providing the accommodation. A social worker or other professional can also make a referral for you – contact Kirklees Council Adult Social Services (Gateway to Care) on 01484 414933 to request a Care Act assessment.
- If you are eligible to be referred, you’ll need to complete the accommodation provider’s assessment to check whether the accommodation they provide is suitable for you. This means you might have to complete several assessments for different providers.
- If the accommodation covered by the provider is suitable for you, you’ll need to wait for a suitable placement based on your needs and available accommodation
- You should also apply to the Kirklees housing register by visiting the Choose n Move portal, as this may help with longer-term housing. Please visit https://www.choosenmove.org.uk/
- If you’re homeless or at risk of homelessness, the Housing Solutions team will discuss emergency accommodation with you.
- Contact Leeds Housing Options: 0113 222 4412 or visit them at Merrion House, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, LS2 8LX. The phone line can be difficult to get through to, so going to Merrion House, ideally when they open at 9:00am Monday to Friday (or 10:00am on a Tuesday), gives the best chance of being assessed that day.
