We often work in partnership with local organisations and services to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB)
effectively – this can include local councils, police and community organisations. As we offer homes across Leeds, Wakefield, Kirklees and North Yorkshire we often work with different councils and policing teams who may use different approaches and processes. Usually, the strong partnerships we have help us to navigate different processes in each area but having a national approach to information sharing, as suggested to government by RESOLVE as part of ASB week, would help us reduce the time it takes to resolve ASB issues.
In a recent example in North Yorkshire there were several separate pockets of ASB throughout an estate. We reached out to the police, social services, safeguarding teams, the local council, an MP, as well as solicitors to work together to resolve the issues. As part of the partnership approach, we needed to share information about individuals and the ASB incidents between partners, especially the police. Because of the complexity of the situation, and lack of a national information sharing agreement, it took some time to gather the information needed. This meant there were delays in resolving the ASB issues and it led to increased stress for our customers and colleagues.
Having a national joined up approach to sharing information would help partners work more closely together from the start of an ASB issue and reach a faster outcome.
