The website supported people in finding a home swap / mutual exchange.

Following the permanent closure of the House Exchange website on 31 July 2026, we’re pleased to announce our new partnership with HomeSwapper by MRI Software.
HomeSwapper is a free online service that helps social housing tenants find other tenants who want to swap homes. We call this process a home swap or mutual exchange. There are lots of reasons why people may want to swap homes – someone may want to downsize and another needs more bedrooms, others may want to move to a different area. With over 230,000 live adverts and 14,000 new members joining every month, HomeSwapper is the UK’s largest mutual exchange platform.

Find out more about HomeSwapper and how the process works:
Yes! HomeSwapper is completely free for all Leeds Federated customers to use.
Visit www.homeswapper.co.uk and click ‘Register’. You can also sign up using Facebook. It takes just a few minutes.
You tell HomeSwapper about your current home and what you’re looking for. The platform automatically finds matches based on location, rent, property type, and number of bedrooms. You’ll get email notifications when new matches appear.
MultiSwap creates chains of multiple swaps. If there isn’t a direct 1-to-1 match, the system can build a chain where everyone moves, and everyone gets what they need.
Absolutely. HomeSwapper covers the whole of the UK, so you can search for homes anywhere in the country.
Once you and your swap partner agree, you will need to contact us for the mutual exchange paperwork. Your Neighbourhood Officer will then have a maximum of 42 days to respond to your application.
If you need to contact HomeSwapper, the HomeSwapper Help Desk is available Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm. You can email them at tenants@homeswapper.co.uk.
You can also contact your neighbourhood officer if you need help with your application or get in touch with us.
