Crafting communities celebrate neurodiversity together

08 May 2025

Last month, crafters from Ingle Court and Cragside Close organised sessions to share their artistic skills and strengths and celebrate each other’s diverse thinking and learning styles.

During the sessions, residents from each community took part in pebble painting activities and shared poetry.

One of the poems created at the session is Be kind. Be unique. Be Together:

Kindness is Free.
In the face of adversity, we must dare to dream.
If you can believe it, you can achieve it!
You are who you are, if you aren't who you ought to be

Being unique is truly grand,
Being different is what makes us stand.
Let the world in colours shine,
Together, we’re one of a kind!

“Crafting and being creative are great ways for people to open up to each other and connect in different ways. The sessions really helped people to understand each other better and challenge stereotypes. We’ve used the painted pebbles to brighten up the gardens too!” – Kescia Awork, Support Co-ordinator
