Stephen contacted us after struggling to manage on his State Pension and a very small private pension. During a benefit check, Stephen shared how his health issues affected his daily life. We suggested that he could be eligible for Attendance Allowance and Housing Benefit.
After an initial unsuccessful claim, we requested a reassessment from the DWP. Both benefits were then approved with backdated payments.
Stephen’s income increased by £73 per week with a £739 backdated Attendance Allowance payment. He also received £124 per week in Housing Benefit with an additional £2,105.47 backdated. It’s expected Stephen’s income will increase further by £82 per week for Pension Credit.
In total, Stephen’s income has increased by £8,106 per year, with a further £8,559 towards rent!
