When you buy a shared ownership home you take on some responsibilities, and so do we.

Your responsibilities

As a shared owner, you’re responsible for:

  • All repairs and maintenance, once the defect period with the developer is over
  • Paying rent, service charges and/or third-party management charges, building and contents insurance and other charges
  • Paying for utilities supplied to your home, such as gas, electricity, internet etc.
  • Asking for permission from us to carry out alterations, additions and improvements to your home
  • Having your boiler serviced by a ‘Gas Safe’ registered engineer every year

You’re also not allowed to sub-let your home and you shouldn’t borrow additional money against your home.

This is a list of common examples – you should look at your lease to find out more information about your responsibilities.

Our responsibilities

As your landlord for the rented portion of your home, we’re responsible for:

  • Insuring the building
  • Complying with our landlord covenants in your lease, deed or transfer document
