Needing help understanding the benefit system?

The benefit system can be complicated and sometimes overwhelming but we're here to help

In some cases you may not know what to claim or how to make a claim. You may have had a change in circumstances, such as moving into or out of work, family changes or illness/disability and not know what to claim or how to do it. You may also have difficulties sorting out a benefits issue and don’t know who to ask.

This is where our Advisors can help. We can advise you on:

  • Benefits to live on and to help pay your rent;
  • Extra benefits if you have an illness or disability for example Personal Independence Payment (PIP);
  • Benefits for older people like Pension Credit and Attendance Allowance.

We can also advise and assist with:

  • How and when to make a benefits claim;
  • Helping to sort out benefits when things go wrong;
  • Sorting out any difficulties that mean you’re short of money or have difficulty paying your rent.
Local councils are a great source of information about where you can get support in your local area:
Kirklees Council Financial Support and Debt Advice
Together Leeds
Wakefield Council Cost Of Living Support
North Yorkshire County Council Cost Of Living Support
Selby District Council Additional Help and Selby District Council Cost Of Living Support

Pension age customers can check if they are eligible for pension credit- worth up to £3500 per year by using the Pension Credit Calculator. You can also find out more about Attendance Allowance here.
