Did you know Winter Fuel Payments are now linked to Pension Credit?

03 Sep 2024

Pension Credit tops up pension income and can help with your day-to-day living costs. If you receive a state pension, you could be eligible for Pension Credit even if you own your home, claim other benefits, have savings or other pensions.

The average Pension Credit weekly award is £71.21 (Leeds Feb 2024), with the exact amount depending on the money you already have.

By applying for Pension Credit you could also be eligible for other benefits including:

  • The Winter Fuel Payment
  • Help with rent and Council Tax
  • A free TV licence for those aged 75 or over
  • Help with the cost of NHS services, such as NHS dental treatment, glasses and transport costs for hospital appointments

Call our Money Matters Team on 0113 386 1000 to find out if you’re eligible for Pension Credit, and for help with applying.

Or you can call the Pension Credit Claim Line on 0800 99 1234 or Textphone 0800 169 0133 or apply online: https://apply-for-pension-credit.service.gov.uk/start
