Working together to build a strong community in Beeston Hill

02 Jan 2025

Over the last few months we’ve been working with customers and other people in the local community to develop a joint Neighbourhood Plan for Beeston Hill, Leeds.

A Neighbourhood Plan sets out our commitment to you and your community. Through the Neighbourhood Plan, we want to help build a strong community with you, your neighbours, local businesses, local charities and so many more.

So far, we’ve held drop-in sessions and launched a survey to hear how you feel about your neighbourhood and what’s important to you. If you’ve not had chance to share your views, our survey is still open here. You can also get more involved in the Neighbourhood Plan here through our online platform, Your Voice.

As part of our work at Beeston Hill, we’re also an active member of the local ‘Problem-Solving Multi-Agency Group’. Alongside Leeds Federated, the Group includes partners from Leeds City Council, Safer Leeds and the Inner South Community Committee. Members of the Group work together to improve community safety and environmental issues in Beeston Hill and around Dewsbury Road.

The Group has been involved in lots of activities recently:

  • Local police have been disrupting drug dealing and issuing warrants. As part of Anti-Social Behaviour Action Week, they also set up high-visibility patrols to raise awareness and support local communities.
  • The Capable Guardians Team held events to share advice on personal safety and staying safe on darker nights. They also held their first monthly drop-ins and continue to patrol the area regularly.
  • Leeds City Council Housing Officers coordinated a recent clean-up on Royal’s Estate in Hunslet to help people feel safer.
  • And at Leeds Federated, we’ve followed up with some customers who weren’t disposing of their rubbish properly, which has since improved that area. We’re also continuing with our monthly estate walkabouts.

Thanks to everyone who’s shared information to help the Group make Beeston Hill a safer place to live.
