Neighbourhood Plan launched in Armley

21 Jun 2024

Over the past few months, we’ve been working with our customers on Borrowdale Crescent and in the wider Armley area to develop a Neighbourhood Plan to help build a stronger community. This forms part of our wider community-based approach.

Developing the Neighbourhood Plan
We contacted customers in January and February this year to let them know what a Neighbourhood Plan is, and the help we would need from them. We also directed customers to a specific project page on our Your Voice platform, to give more information about what we were doing, along with a link to a survey for them to complete.
We arranged a community action day to meet with customers to talk about the Plan, listen to feedback and launch the survey. We also worked with Connect Housing to provide skips, arranged litter picking and set up an activity for children.

During the following weeks, we spoke to more customers and collated the survey results. Customers told us about issues with parking and litter and that they’d like more events to bring the community together. We developed a Neighbourhood Plan to reflect customer feedback and held a meeting at the end of March to discuss the Plan with customers.
With a few further amendments following the meeting, we finalised and published the Armley Neighbourhood Plan.
Over the coming year we’ll be hearing from customers in other areas to develop more Neighbourhood Plans.
