We have homes for rent in Leeds, Wakefield, West and North Yorkshire, ranging from 1-bedroom flats to 5-bedroom houses. We do not have our own waiting list so properties are allocated by the local councils in each area and the application process is different for each council.

Rent in Leeds

To apply for a property in Leeds, you need to register with Leeds Homes.

You can then bid for Leeds Federated, or other housing association and council homes. Bidding starts every Wednesday and closes on Mondays at 5pm.

Rent in North Yorkshire

To apply for a home in North Yorkshire you need to register with Harrogate Borough Council and you will be added to the waiting list. When one of our properties, or another housing association or local authority council home becomes available in the area, the council decides who should be offered the home.

Rent in Wakefield

To apply for a property in Wakefield, you need to register with Wakefield District Housing. You can then bid for our properties and other housing association and council homes on the Wakefield District Housing Homesearch website.For more information, go to the Homesearch website or call Wakefield District Council on 0344 9 02 02 02.
We have a Local Lettings Policy for our homes in the Wakefield and district area. If you would like a property in this area, you must meet the criteria set out in that policy. You can read it here.

Buying A Home

Shared Ownership is a great way to buy a home and get on the housing ladder. You buy a share of the property (usually around 50%) and pay rent for the rest. This can make it an affordable option and easier to get a mortgage.

Swap my home

If you live in a social housing property and want to move, you could swap your home.

Home swaps (also called a mutual exchange) take place when two tenants agree to swap homes. Perhaps one wants to downsize and another needs more bedrooms. Or, people may want to move to a different area.

If you want to swap houses with someone who lives in a Leeds Federated property, get in touch with your Neighbourhood Officer. We support customers who want to swap their homes with each other if the properties are suitable for them and the qualifying criteria are met.

You can search for a property in your local area or across the UK with House Exchange where we also advertise Leeds Federated house swaps.
