What is the Ripon Supported Tenancy And
Resettlement Service?
The scheme provides ten units of housing in Ripon, North
Yorkshire for people nominated by Harrogate Borough Council. It is
a joint venture between Leeds Fed and the Council with the
intention of providing accommodation to people who require support
in order to live independently. This accommodation is offered on a
short term basis from a minimum of six months to a maximum of two
years. The support will focus on access to training services to
enable people to engage in work or education in the future.
The Accommodation
The service provides 9 x 1 bed-roomed self contained flats, and 1 x
2 bed-roomed self contained flat. The accommodation is provided at
2 separate locations within Ripon.
Who is the service for?
Age group 16 to 55,
Single people living in the Ripon area who require housing
support.
Homeless applicants registered on the general housing list with
Harrogate Borough Council.
People with Mental health related issues
Young people at risk
People at risk of domestic violence
Older people with housing support needs
Vulnerable people with drug/Alcohol issues
Young expectant mothers
How can I apply?
It is important that anyone wishing to be considered for the scheme
is registered with Harrogate Borough Council and have completed a
current housing application form.
All applicants are referred to the scheme via Harrogate
Council.
We encourage and accept referrals from other sources i.e.; YMCA
(Ripon) Voluntary and statutory services, Police, Health authority
and Self-referrals.
What is the referral process?
When a vacancy becomes available on the scheme a request is made by
Leeds Federated to Harrogate Borough Council for a suitable
nomination.
You will be contacted and an interview arranged.
The support worker will identify any support needs through a needs
assessment and conduct a risk assessment with you.
You will be informed of the decision to offer a place on the scheme
within 2 days in writing and by telephone.
A support plan will be completed together within 1 month and will
be updated and reviewed at least every 3 months.
Support will be offered for up to 2 years, if within that time it
is identified that support is no longer required and you feel ready
to move-on to more appropriate housing, your support worker will
discuss with you your options and offer advice and assistance in
securing appropriate permanent accommodation with Leeds Federated
or Harrogate Borough Council
The Support Package
Leeds Federated supported Housing will ensure that the correct
level of support is provided, working with other agencies if
required.
A 'Support Plan' is agreed between the you and your allocated
support worker which will highlights any areas of support required.
These can include:
- Budgeting
- Tenancy issues
- Promoting independent living skills
- Signposting
- Encouraging social wellbeing
- Empowerment and confidence building
- Learning/education/employment support
- Claiming and maintaining benefits
- Health related support
- Debt management
- Managing responsibilities
- Anti-social behaviour issues
- Mental health advice
- Substance misuse
Leaving the Service
When you are ready to move on to full independent living usually
between 6 months and 2 years, your support worker will discuss your
housing options and assist in finding you suitable permanent
accommodation.
