...buy a property?

Home Ownership Schemes

The Home ownership schemes through Shared Ownership and Right to Acquire are two ways open to tenants and generally people who cannot afford to purchase a their own home outright. The types of homes available are newly built properties and existing properties, which have been refurbished. The home ownership officer will assist you through the process of purchasing a property and approve your application to take part in home ownership schemes available.

Shared Ownership

Shared Ownership is intended for applicants who cannot afford to purchase a suitable home in any other way outright. These are usually first time buyers of which priority is given to local authority or registered social landlord (RSL) tenants and those on waiting lists of registered social landlords or local authority.

The scheme allows you to purchase a share from the RSL. The share you purchase is funded by a mortgage which you will need to arrange with a bank or building society. The remaining share you do not own is rented from the association. The size of the share to be purchased will depend on your income and savings. Please contact Firebird JVC for further information.

Right To Acquire

The right to acquire is a scheme giving eligible tenants of registered social landlords the legal right to buy the home they currently rent. There are specific properties which have been identified which fall under the specific funding regime. Please contact Firebird JVC to find out which properties are eligible.
